PARENTS AND FRIENDS

Parents and Friends is a group of volunteers with two main goals:

  • Raising money to enhance the school's resources and buildings

  • Encourage a sense of school community.

What do we do?

Parents and Friends run fundraising activities throughout the year, such as Friday lunches and the school fair. In addition to fundraising, Parents and Friends run events “just for fun” such as the school picnic and disco.  We also help out at school events like Matariki evenings.

The programme of activities is agreed early in the year and is coordinated with the teaching staff to fit in with the busy school schedule.

Over the last few years, the money from fundraising has been spent on:

  • Enhancing the school playground

  • Purchasing books

  • Providing new sports equipment

What can you do to help?

The Parents and Friends committee meets monthly. We always like to see new faces, so feel free to come to a meeting even if you don’t want to join as a committee member.

Many parents and friends of the school contribute to the activities of Parents and Friends without attending regular meetings, so if you are not a “meeting person” but wish to help out, please ask the school office to point out a committee member or email: pandf@sfxtawa.school.nz
